PTA Board

Whitney, President: I am a mom of two kids at our school and one toddler, and one of my favorite things about being involved in the PTA is feeling more connected to the school and to others. Everyone inthe school community benefits when parents get involved and the PTA creates opportunities to do that. I also enjoy being part of a board with people who care so much about our school and our kids.

Ashley, Treasurer: I've been serving on the PTA Board at SES for 4 years. I have 2 boys at SES who are in 4th and 5th grade. I work full-time as a Registered Nurse in the aesthetics field. I love volunteering with the PTA because it helps me feel more connected to my kids and their school community. I love serving Stafford Elementary Staff and students and am looking forward to a great year!

Paige, VP of Fundraising & Outreach: Proud mother of two amazing SES Dolphins swimming in 3rd & 1st grades, a retired military officer, and a nonprofit manager. I have long believed that "it takes each of us to help all of us"! With a deep understanding and commitment to service and youth development, I am dedicated to helping spirited programs that create magic and bring forward exciting activities that help turn our kids' educational experiences into memories!

Sarah, Secretary: I have two children: an SES 2nd grader & a 6th grader at SMS. I work full time as a forensic molecular biology research scientist, but in my free time I enjoy reading, yoga, and maintaining my small garden and collection of succulents, and exploring VA. I feel parent involvement in our children's education and school community is paramount for their success. So, I joined PTA to work alongside other parents who are just as committed to the mission of supporting every aspect of the schoool community.

Shainiece, VP of Diversity & Inclusion: This is my first year serving on the PTA Board. I work as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and have a 1st grader at SES, as well as a preschooler. I joined the PTA because it gives me the opportunity to play a more active role in my child's educational experience while helping create meaningful experiences that enrich the school community for all of our staff, students, and families.

Organizational Information

Board Member Positions and Responsibilities

President

Presides at all meetings  Member ex-officio of all committees except the nominating committee
Submits officer forms and verification to VAPTA on a yearly basis upon election of officers
Coordinates the work of officers and committees of the association in order that the purposes may be promoted.

Vice President – Membership

Act as aide to the president and performs the duties of president in the absence or inability of president to act.
Serve as membership coordinator and volunteer coordinator
Crucial component of the budget process each year
Acts as point of contact for various events throughout the year

Vice President – Ways and Means

Plan coordinate and implement all fundraising activities
Coordinate all monies of fundraising activities and their turnover to the treasurer
Backup name on PTA account for check signing
Crucial component of the budget process each year
Acts as point of contact for various events throughout the year

Treasurer

Maintains custody of all funds of the association  Keeps full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures
Make disbursements as authorized
Remit membership dues
Coordinates check signing by 2 officers of the PTA
Presents financial reports at every association meeting or on request by the association
Prepares annual financial report at end of fiscal year
Submits to yearly audit
Submits audit and other required tax forms to state
Chairs the budget committee to prepare the annual budget

Recording Secretary

Records the minutes of all meetings of the association
Keeps an official copy of by-laws for use at all meetings
Prepares and distributes meeting minutes
Oversees ballot distribution and recording when required

Communications/Technology Secretary

Collects info, creates, and submits the PTA newsletter to administration for publishing
Oversee PTA email account, Facebook page or any other electronic communication deemed necessary by the board
Records minutes for meetings in the absence of the recording secretary
Serves as liaison between SES Teacher Respresentative and PTA for posting info to school Fusion website

Parent Teacher Liaison

Acts as intermediary between administration/staff and PTA executive board
Attends regular board meetings and staff meetings at the invitation of the principal
Act as Point of Contact for various events specifically teacher related PTA projects

Grant Application

The Stafford Elementary PTA Education Enrichment Grant Program aims to fund unique classroom projects for enhanced learning experiences. Open to staff, it considers innovative ideas and projects not already funded by the school system. Grants vary in amount, judged by a committee based on criteria like student impact, diversity of subjects, and project viability. Recipients can choose between direct reimbursement or vendor payment for approved purchases.
